A currency symbol is a structure that denotes the name of a currency. Every country has different and unique currency symbol. Currency symbol is refrence of amount of money of particular country.

About indian currency symbol

The symbol of India currency is Rupees ₹. This symbol is designed by uday kumar, a post graduate from IIT Bombay.  It was presented to the public by Government of India on 15 Jul 2010. This designed has choosen by Government of India in open competition from thousand of competitor.

Design of Indian currency

The Indian rupee sign is an allegory of Indian ethos. The symbol is an amalgam of Devanagari "र" letter and the Roman letter "R" with two parallel horizontal stripes running at the top representing the national flag and also the "equal to" sign. 

Approval of symbol

Ministry of Finance and Department of Economic affairs of the Government of India had finally approved the sign. The approval was given by Sushil Kumar, under the secretary of the Government of India in 2010.
